Introduction:
As natural as it is for a person to feel attached to the place where he/she was born and raised, it is also natural for a person to change his/her place of residence in order to improve himself/herself and to have better living or working conditions. However, it is quite difficult to decide to leave one country and settle in another. However, when it comes to Türkiye, it may be relatively easier to decide on this change. Considering its natural and historical beauties, large economy, peaceful structure and hospitable people, Türkiye attracts all the attention as the most stable country in the Middle East geography, which has been struggling with many political, social and economic crises in recent years. For these reasons, Middle Eastern people want to invest, travel and live in Türkiye. In this article, we will explain why Middle Eastern people want to live in Türkiye.
Historical and geographical features:
The Anatolian geography on which Türkiye is located is the first known settlement of mankind, as well as being home to many civilisations throughout history, has been a stopping point for commercial routes and has served as a bridge connecting the continents of Asia and Europe. It is possible to come across the footprints of human history in all provinces of Türkiye. All this makes Türkiye a very colourful and rich country in terms of cultural elements such as food, music and lifestyle.
Türkiye; the blue waters of the Mediterranean, the clear waves of the Aegean, the lush green coasts of the Black Sea, the healing waters of the hot springs, the snowy peaks of the mountains and the green meadows of the plateaus make Türkiye an ideal place for holidays in all seasons, summer and winter. Since Türkiye is a geography with three climate types and four different seasons, it also has a strong agricultural and animal husbandry potential. Since Türkiye is a country where various grains, fruits and vegetables are produced, exported and imported, access to a wide variety of food is also easy and convenient.
All these features cause people from the Middle East to see Türkiye as an attractive place to live. As a dazzling country with its historical richness, natural beauties and living opportunities, Türkiye promises them a new and exciting experience.
Economy and Job Opportunities:
Türkiye stands out as one of the largest economies in the Middle East. In 2024, Türkiye's gross domestic product was recorded at USD 1.32 trillion, making it the 17th largest economy in the world. Türkiye's economy has achieved a rapid growth momentum in recent years. This growth has been driven by significant investments in the energy and tourism sectors, a dynamic labour market and a young population. Especially after 2023, Türkiye's steps to strengthen its relations with Europe, Arab and neighbouring countries and increase its trade partnerships will further boost economic growth. This is a factor that drives Middle Eastern large-scale companies to the Turkish market and attracts medium and small-scale investors who want to utilise their capital.
Job opportunities in Türkiye are not limited to investors. In addition, foreigners can be self-employed with the same rights as Turkish workers or work as labourers in sectors such as tourism, construction, manufacturing, energy and finance. According to the World Bank's 2024 Unemployment Rates Report, the unemployment rate in Türkiye is lower than the average of countries in the Middle East. For this reason, people from different countries come to Türkiye to work in better conditions than where they are located. In short, Türkiye offers opportunities for growth and success for people from the Middle East with its economic dynamism, job opportunities and labour capacity.
Health Care Services:
One of the most critical factors for Middle Eastern individuals when choosing a country to live in is access to high-quality and affordable healthcare. Türkiye’s healthcare system has gained international recognition, not only for its advanced medical facilities but also for its remarkable accessibility. According to the OECD Health at a Glance 2025 report, Türkiye demonstrates exceptional performance in universal health coverage, with 99% of its population covered for a core set of health services. This is a vital indicator for expatriates and investors, ensuring that medical care is a guaranteed right rather than a privilege.
Furthermore, Türkiye stands out in terms of "timely access" to care. While the OECD average for unmet medical needs is 3.4%, this rate is significantly lower in Türkiye at only 1.2%, indicating that patients can reach doctors and receive treatment much faster than in many developed nations. From a quality perspective, Türkiye’s success in critical care is evident; for instance, 30-day mortality rates after a heart attack (6.0%) or stroke (7.0%) are below the OECD averages, showcasing the efficiency of its emergency and intensive care units.
The economic advantage of the Turkish health system is another major draw for people from the Middle East. While providing world-class services, Türkiye’s health spending per capita ($2,309) is much more cost-effective compared to the OECD average ($5,967). Additionally, the high prevalence of generic medicines (62% of the market) ensures that pharmaceutical costs remain manageable. With its expanding network of modern hospitals and a healthcare infrastructure that combines quality with accessibility, Türkiye remains a premier destination for those seeking a secure and healthy future.
Education:
Education is the cornerstone of personal and social development, and Türkiye has rapidly transformed into a global "education hub" for international students. Those seeking world-class academic standards can obtain internationally recognized diplomas from Turkish universities that consistently climb global rankings. According to the QS World University Rankings 2025/2026, Türkiye’s academic prestige is on the rise, with over 25 universities featured in the world rankings, and leading institutions such as METU, ITU, and Koç University securing spots in the top 400-500 bracket.
Beyond academic excellence, Türkiye offers a welcoming ecosystem for international scholars. As of the 2024-2025 academic year, Türkiye hosts more than 340,000 international students, making it one of the top 10 countries globally for hosting foreign students. Universities provide a wide array of scholarships, English-taught programs, and exchange opportunities that allow students to build diverse professional networks. For Middle Eastern students, this provides a unique advantage: receiving a high-quality, Western-standard education within a culturally familiar and reliable environment. With its modern campuses and increasing investment in research and development, Türkiye offers a strategic gateway for young people to shape their future and achieve global success.
Religious and Cultural Cohesion:
Türkiye and the Middle East have been home to many common civilisations and religions throughout history. For this reason, there are many common denominators and similarities in their historical and cultural heritage. These similarities stem from historical, religious, traditional and social elements. Türkiye, like most of the Middle Eastern countries, is a region where Islam has a great influence. In these regions, similar religious rituals such as prayer and fasting, festivals, forms of worship and religious lifestyle are observed. Family, community and traditional values play an important role in both Türkiye and Middle Eastern countries. Family ties are strong, marriage and the institution of family are highly valued. In addition, Turkish cuisine will not be foreign to Middle Eastern people. There are similar dishes and food preparation methods such as pilaf, kebab, baklava. In addition to all these, Turkish is very similar to languages such as Arabic and Persian in terms of language structure and synonyms. In fact, Turkish was written with the Arabic alphabet before the adoption of the Latin alphabet. These similarities are just some of the factors that support Türkiye as a reasonable place to live for Middle Eastern countries. These factors provide an environment where people can both maintain their own cultural identity and have different experiences in Türkiye.
Conclusion:
As a result, Türkiye has become an attractive living, investment and travelling destination for people from the Middle East. With its historical and geographical richness, diverse climate, strong economy, job opportunities, quality healthcare and high educational standards, Türkiye stands as a harbour in the shadow of instability and crises in the Middle East. Türkiye's hospitable people, cultural diversity and historical texture add to this attraction. Türkiye can be a new starting point for people from the Middle East, offering both personal and business opportunities.
